About me

[my CV]      [contact: bbinh85 at gmail.com]

Currently, I am a principal research scientist at AMD Research.

I earned my PhD in 2014 from the Computer Graphics and Interactive Media Lab at University of Houston. After graduation, I had worked at several research groups: SEED//Electronic Arts (from 2017 to 2022, as a research scientist), Disney Research Pittsburgh and Pixar Research (from 2014 to 2016, as a postdoc).

My research interest is in visual computing, which includes computer graphics, animation, computer vision, computational photography, machine learning, optimization, and numerical computing.

I am the author of SSDR/Dem Bones, a widely used tool/technique in the game industry (e.g. Naughty Dog, EA, SideFX (Houdini), Gamefromscratch (Blender example), C4D (plugin), etc.). Please check the list [here].

I am also a gravel cyclist (who does not own the road), a Youtube-certified bike mechanic, an self-taught inline/figure skater, and a hobbyist photographer (who can barely afford to be a gear-nerd).
